Minted by the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, Australia, the Silver Kangaroo coins are legal Australian tender. Each single coin has a face value of one Australian dollar. With a limited mintage annually, the Silver Kangaroo coins attract collectors and investors for their limited number and changing designs. The mintage of the Royal Australia Mint (RAM) Silver Kangaroo has always been a mystery as RAM does not release its Declared Mintage like Perth Mint does. There are numbers put up by numismatics enthusiasts as well as dealers. However it is not known where the numbers came from.

The Australian Kangaroo Series from the Perth Mint is one of the longest-running collections available. The Gold Kangaroo was the first issued by the Perth Mint in 1990 alongside the Silver Kookaburra, but technically it had its roots in the Gold Nugget Series that launched four years earlier in 1986. Today, 2021 1 oz Platinum Australian Kangaroos are available to you online at Silver.com.

The Perth Mint introduced the Gold Kangaroo and Silver Kangaroo in 1990 as the first in a long-running series of bullion coins from the mint with new designs on the reverse each year. Further, the coins set a trend for featuring native wildlife on the reverse of the coins. The Gold Kangaroo proved to be the first in a series of three metallic options in the series. The coin is the only one of the major collections at the Perth Mint to feature gold, silver, and platinum coin options.

All 2021 1 oz Platinum Australian Kangaroos are available to purchase individually or in bulk. Individual coins come with protective acrylic capsules, while multiples arrive in packaging that includes rolls of 20 coins or boxes of 100 coins. The box contains five 20-coin rolls. Each coin available here is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The Perth Mint will produce these coins with unlimited mintages, indicating the coins will be struck through the end of 2021.

On the obverse of the 2021 Platinum Australian Kangaroos is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty features in right-profile relief in the sixth-generation design of the Queen for Australian coins. Wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown, this portrait is the first of the Queen on an Australian coin since 1966 with her neck and shoulders included in the bust.

The reverse side of the 2021 1 oz Platinum Australian Kangaroo is an image of a leaping kangaroo. The kangaroo is the largest living marsupial species and the species is endemic to the Australian continent. The kangaroos exist in four subspecies with the western grey, eastern grey, red, and antilopine kangaroos representative of the species. The red kangaroo is the most numerous in Australia and is the subspecies featured here on the reverse.
